Blog style and Features
The tagline to Jenni Sews blog is ‘a journey to a handmade wardrobe’ since I am striving to achieve this, coming across this blog struck a chord with me. It shows the journey from earliest makes to present, there is a photos section of ‘my makes’ in the menu and a ‘blog’ section that covers the makes in great detail, with lots of photographs showing the different stages in the process of making each garment, together with what adjustments have been made. What I like about this style of blog is that as you go through the timeline you see how more challenging projects have been tackled. Jeni also has a fashion and textile background and started this blog after taking a break from sewing. With that professional knowledge her blog has added value without being overpowering. If you read one of her posts, they are easy to follow letting you decide if the project is for you. When I like to sew a new pattern initially I look at photos of everyone’s version on instagram, I then look at what other bloggers have shared about sewing up the garment, this is an invaluable reference point for me when I am sewing.

Best dress of 2019 the Nina
This blog post is about a vintage pattern that Jeni tested, I love the dress with it’s elegant features like the collar and elbow sleeve length. There is detailed description about the construction and lots of photos so you can get an idea if you want to try out the pattern.
